National Association of Social Work (NASW)

This is the webpage of the primary professional organization for Social Workers in the United States.  The NASW provides information for practioners by staying up to date on public policy, evaluating practices and values, and providing a outlet for professional concerns. 

NASW Code of Ethics

The NASW code of ethics is the professional guide of conduct for practioners.  Professional socical workers are expected to provide all services to all clients while simutaneously reflecting upon the values of the profession. 

Council on Social Work Education

The Council on Social Work Education is the primary organization that accredits undergraduate and graduate social work programs in colleges and universities throughout the United States.  In addition to accreditation, the council also provides opportunities for research funding and financial scholarships, as well as professional conferences and career services.

U.S. Dept. of Labor Statistics - Social Work

This site provides an overview of social work, and the most common areas of employment in the field.  The site breaks down by topic headings, including; nature of work, working conditions, training, qualifications, and advancement, employment, job outlook, earnings, and related occupations. 

SocialService.com

This website is an employment database with current positions available throughout the United States and beyond.  The database is searchable by state, level of education, and country.  Registered users can search and post their resume. 

Social Work History Station

This site is a joint effort sponsered by Boise State University and the CSWE to provide users with an interactive, comperhensive guide to the history of the profession of social work.  The site also provides such useful tools as a picture gallery and links to additional resources.

Institute for the Advancement of Social Work Research

IASWR is a non-profit agency that works to support the research needs of professional social workers.

Society for Social Work and Research

This professional organization started in the State of New York, in 1993 works toward the advancement of the field of social work, and researching standards.  The site is dedicated to learning from and involving practicing social workers, support staff and social work students.
